Jackson Rule, by Sharon Sala, Dinah McCall

For powerful emotion and unforgettable romance Sharon Sala can't be beat. This beautifully repackaged classic is sure to delight her long-time fans and attract new ones!

Jackson Rule had spent nearly half his life behind bars for murder. Now he was starting over--or trying to. Once he laid hungry eyes on his new employer, though, his resolve to lead a simple solitary life deserted him, replaced by yearnings for fierce, forbidden passion.

Preacher's daughter Rebecca Hill was raised to give folks the benefit of the doubt--though maybe this time she'd taken charity a bit too far. True Jackson Rule had paid his debt to society, and was a hard, honest worker. What threatened to undo her was the sheer burning desire she felt in his presence, and the sinking feeling that her heart would be his captive forever.

Amazon.com Review
Rebecca Hill is a preacher's daughter and Jackson Rule is a convicted killer. But Rebecca sees something in the handsome, stoic man that reassures her, and she hires him to work in her greenhouse, much to the dismay of her father. For Jackson, the job Rebecca offers him is an opportunity for honest work and a decent life. He's deeply attracted to Rebecca, but he's a man not only molded by years in prison, but scarred to his soul by the violence of his childhood. Rebecca struggles to come to terms with her growing feelings for Jackson and his reluctance to see a future for them. When defending Jackson causes a rift with her father, she refuses to back down. And it isn't until tragedy strikes a beloved friend that Jackson teaches the preacher an important lesson about drawing conclusions from outward appearances and past mistakes. Still, a future for Rebecca and Jackson seems doubtful until a heroic act sets in motion events that change forever how the world views Jackson Rule. Dinah McCall's book is intensely emotional, with a strong plot and vivid characterizations. It's easy to see why this skillful contemporary received the prestigious Janet Dailey Award in 1996. --Lois Faye Dyer

About the Author

With over fifty books in print, award-winning author Sharon Sala, who also writes as Dinah McCall, still has to remind herself from time to time that this isn't a dream.

She learned to read at the age of four and has had her nose in a book ever since. Her introduction into romance came at an early age through the stories of Zane Gray, Grace Livingston Hill and Emily Loring. Her pride in contributing to the genre is echoed by the letters of her fans.

She's a four-time RITA finalist, Winner of the Janet Dailey Award, three-time Career Achievement winner from Romantic Times magazine, four-time winner of the National Reader's Choice Award and five-time winner of the Colorado Romance Writer's Award of Excellence, as well as numerous other industry awards.

Her books are regularly on bestseller lists, such as the New York Times extended list, USA Today, Publishers Weekly, Waldenbooks mass market, and many others.

She claims that, for her, learning to read was a matter of evolution, but learning to write and then being published was a revolution. It changed her life, her world and her fate.

A VERY GOOD READ!!!!!
By Elaine C McTyer
This is Sharon Sala at her best, we laugh alittle, but we cry alot.
Jackson Rule has been released from prison. He admitted he killed his father. Now he has to build a life. He was 16 when he was sent to prison. No one wants to trust a convicted killer.
Rebecca Hill is a preacher's daughter. Jackson saves her life and winds up working for her at her nursery. To the dismay of her friends and father.
But whatever a man is will come out, and Rebecca finds all the quiet strength and goodness in Jackson.
Jackson has many secrets and one by one they are revealed. This is one of Sharon Sala's best as far as I am concerned. Her books always give me hope for man's humanity.

Ex-con and preacher's daughter must fight prejudice
By pontmarie
Andrew Jackson Rule leaves Angola penitentiary after spending half his life there for killing his abusive father. He finds that the world is not too kind to ex-cons, except in the form of Rebecca Hill, a preacher's daughter who runs a nursery, the only person who'll give him a job. Together, they fight everyone else's prejudice, including her father's. Jackson must also deal with his sister, who was severely abused by their father, and the revelation of Jackson's sacrifice is a very touching one. This is a wonderful book. Jackson is a bit too nice at times, but you can feel his pain. My favorite book by Sharon Sala/Dinah McCall.
